Cavaliers are affectionate, gentle, and graceful. They are adaptable dogs that are equally happy curled up on the sofa or enjoying a walk in the park. Cavaliers are unfortunately prone to several serious conditions, most notably mitral valve disease (a heart condition), syringomyelia (a neurological condition affecting the brain and spine), hip dysplasia, and eye conditions including cataracts. It is critical to choose a breeder who performs cardiac, MRI, eye, and hip evaluations on breeding stock.
